Argentine president extends ordinary sessions of Congress

Buenos Aires, Nov 17 (Prensa Latina) Argentine President Alberto Fernandez on Wednesday extended the ordinary sessions of the National Congress until December 31, the Official Gazette announced.

According to the decree, the president extended the legislature’s work and now the political forces will set their own agenda and priorities.

With several projects on the agenda to be discussed, the legislators could continue with their activity until the last day of the year.

During this period, 151 new congressmen, that is 127 deputies and 24 senators elected in Sunday’s legislative elections, will also take office. They will start working on December 10.

The Executive also expects to submit to the Legislative Branch several initiatives on productive development, industrial activity and job creation.

In addition, the two chambers of Congress should deal with the 2022 Budget, which was sent by the Executive Power on September 15 to be debated first in commissions.

Precisely during a speech on Sunday after the elections’ results, President Fernandez announced that in the first week of December, he will send to Congress a bill that explicitly states the multiannual economic program for sustainable development.
