New minister of Education of Bolivia takes office

La Paz, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) Edgar Pary Chambi on Friday took up the post of new minister of Education of Bolivia during a ceremony at Casa Grande del Pueblo with the presence of President Luis Arce.

His appointment was approved through Supreme Decree 4623, signed by the president and a few days after the resignation of Adrian Quelca, accused of presumed crimes of influence peddling.

In his first speech, Pary committed to working with social organizations, representatives from confederations of rural and urban teachers, fathers and mothers, and students.

He also said that he will focus on further boosting the three modalities set up for education at present: distance, blended and onsite education.

Previously, Pary served as principal at the Teacher Traing School.

At the inauguration ceremony, the president said that the new minister has to face the challenge of implementing a plan to improve the quality of education, not only of schools, but also of universities.
