Suspect of assassination in Haiti arrested in Turkey

According to reports from Vant Bef Info platform, the two governments are currently negotiating the extradition of Handal, who is accused of murder and armed robbery for the events that occurred on July 7.

In October national authorities promised a reward of four million gourdes (about 40,000 dollars) to anyone who provided information on the whereabouts of the businessman, who according to human rights organizations was escorted to the airport by police officers shortly after the assassination.

After the raid on his place, the Police seized firearms, ammunition and some 15 passports to his name and two other individuals’.

At least 44 people are being detained, including 18 Colombians and 12 policemen, in addition to those responsible for the presidential security as well as doctor Emmanuel Sanon, the alleged mastermind.

However, the case advances cautiously and recently armed individuals broke into the office of Judge Gary Orélien that is investigating the assassination, although they did not take any documents, judicial authorities assured.
