Students from all educational institutions in Ecuador could obligatorily return to schools from the end of this month. This was anticipated by the Minister of Education María Brown.
The minister explained that a new proposal has been extended to the National COE, in order to return to schools progressively.
From the mandatory return, all schools and colleges that offer distance modalities would be exempted, said Brow.
She explained that this plan has been presented because from the end of November and the beginning of December the deadline for high school students to receive the second dose of vaccines against the coronavirus.
According to this program, at the end of November the students from the technical high school, rural high school and from the Insular Region would return. In December, all high school and upper secondary school would return; While from January 17, 2022, students from the entire education system will return to classrooms on a mandatory basis.
“We are going to wait 15 days, after the return of the holiday so that if there are outbreaks of Covid-19, they can be contained,” she said.
In addition, Brown explained that for this return new biosafety protocols and new conditions such as compliance with sanitary measures, as well as vaccination in the entire educational population will be developed.
