800 pages would prove the link between President Lasso and tax havens, according to a report

The president of the Constitutional Guarantees Commission, Fernando Cabascango, delivered this Monday, November 8, 2021, about 800 pages that would be the evidence that supports the report issued on the investigation of the Pandora Papers and would prove the connection of President Guillermo Lasso with paradises prosecutors.

Along with several assembly members from Pachakutik, Cabascango delivered the documentation to the Assembly Secretariat, to be attached to the report delivered on November 7, which indicates that there was a constitutional breach by the Ecuadorian President.

“The file is here for those who want to review it, for political analysts who say we have no evidence,” he reproached.

“We are being accused that it has not been a transparent process, that no evidence has been found within the reporting process. We are leaving about 800 pages only of the evidence of the relationship of President Guillermo Lasso with tax havens, “he added.

Regarding the accusation of his co-chair, Édgar Quezada, of changes in the last minute report, Cabascango clarified that there was a time for the Commission team to present the recommendations, the secretary read those points and a vote was taken. “If the assembly members are not pending the sessions, it is not the responsibility of the president or the Commission,” he said.

In the morning, the ruling party National Accord (BAN) and the Christian Social Party (PSC) announced their rejection of the report and said that there are no elements to support the recommendations made by the Legislative Plenary. For its part, the Democratic Left (ID) is still analyzing its position.

While the Pachakutik block is divided. There are legislators who do not support the document, such as Quezada, while others such as Patricia Sánchez, Salvador Quishpe, Dina Farinango, do support it.
