Around 60 thousand people have received the third dose against the coronavirus in Ecuador

At least 60,000 people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus with the third dose or booster dose in Ecuador, according to the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón.

In an interview with Sonorama, the Secretary of State clarified that this number of people already vaccinated with a third formula corresponds to health personnel, people over 65 years of age and people with immunodeficiency.

She also anticipated that in the coming months the entire population should receive this booster against Covid-19, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated with Pfizer, Sinovac, AstraZeneca or CanSino.

“It is scientifically proven that immunity acquired by the vaccine or after being infected lasts between six and eight months. You have to wait that long for them to receive their booster dose, ”explained Garzón.

She added that people who have been vaccinated abroad can also be vaccinated in Ecuador, as long as six months have passed since the last inoculation.

The minister indicated that the goal is to vaccinate 200 thousand people with the third dose, until the end of this 2021.

Regarding the vaccination of children under twelve years of age and over five, the head of Health called on parents to comply with the regular vaccination, so that infants can be vaccinated against Covid-19.
