Brazil records some 35,000 children and youngsters killings

Brazilia, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) Brazil has recorded 34,918 children and youngsters killings from 2016 to 2020, un unpublished study uncovered today, which was disclosed by UOL news website.

The report made by the Brazilian Forum of Public Security and the UNICEF noted that black minors are the majority of victims in all age groups. As those minors are older, the group prevalence gets higher. Among youngsters from 15 to 19 years old, violence victims, 90 percent are of male gender and 80 percent are black.

The inquiry refers that almost 90 percent of violent deaths of minors younger than four years old, the culprit is someone known by the victim.’It is terrifying. A few countries worldwide have over 7,000 kids’ deaths a year. It is a too high figure,’ Danilo Moura assured, who is an official of follow-up and assessment of UNICEF in Brazil.

He warned that ‘Latin America has 8 percent of the world’s population and almost half of the children’s homicides, which mostly are committed in brazil. Violence levels are very alarming.’Brazil registered 50,000 violent deaths in 2020, a growth by five percent in Covid-19 times after having a downturn two consecutive years, according to the Public Security Annual.
