China describes new talks with US as constructive

Beijing, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) China on Thursday described the talks in Switzerland between its representatives and those of the United States as constructive and favorable for mutual understanding, as they ended with the consensus to manage frictions to avoid the conflict.

An official communique stated that during the meeting, Chinese Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi and US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan frankly and deeply exchanged views on the bilateral relations, and international and regional issues of common interest.

The two sides have agreed to take action as the heads of State agreed earlier to strengthen strategic communication, manage differences, avoid confrontation and seek mutual benefit, in addition to work together to channel ties on the path of healthy and stable development.

Beijing hopes that the US side can adopt a rational and pragmatic policy toward China and follow a path of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, the official said.

Meanwhile, Sullivan referred to the areas where the two countries can join forces and agreed to keep the latent risks in the bilateral ties under control.

The meeting held a few hours ago in Zurich was a new attempt by the world’s major powers to put aside their differences, address concerns on multiple issues and seek a satisfactory understanding to each side.
