The forensic and criminalistics team reported that 41 of the 118 people deprived of liberty (PPL) have been identified, after the massacre in the Guayaquil jail, on September 28.

At a press conference, the Minister of Government, Alexandra Vela, reported that yesterday, Thursday, September 30, 21 bodies were delivered to her relatives and today the other 20 will be delivered.

At the moment, the identification verification processes of 77 murdered inmates continue. The complications for their recognition are due to the violence with which they were attacked.

Vela also reported that, in order for families to know the identity of people who are safe in this penitentiary, the National Service for Comprehensive Attention to Persons Deprived of Liberty (SNAI) took measures so that the lists are known by the relatives .

In a work with the Municipality of Guayaquil, Vela indicated that niches will be delivered for the proper burial of the bodies that have already been delivered to her families.

Likewise, she reported that she works with the Secretariat for Human Rights, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion in the reestablishment of a life plan and support for the victims’ families.
