Mexico to participate in G20 Leaders Summit in Rome

Mexico, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) The Foreign Minister of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, confirmed he will attend the G20 Summit in Rome on the 30th and 31st of this month on behalf of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Leaders of the 20 most important economies and heads of international organizations will discuss the strengthening of cooperation and collective action to accelerate the response strategy to the health, economic and social effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, and will identify specific measures to be taken in order to move towards an inclusive and sustainable socio-economic recovery.

The work agenda of the summit will be divided into three working sessions in plenary, in which they will address the issues of global economy and health, climate change and environment, and sustainable development.

Foreign Secretary Ebrard will also participate in two thematic events within the framework of the summit, one on promoting small and medium-sized enterprises led by women, and another on public-private collaboration to combat climate change.

As part of his activities, Ebrard will hold meetings with counterparts from other countries to exchange perspectives on the G20 agenda and discuss issues on the bilateral agenda.

Mexico’s priorities within the G20 are focusing on promoting the social dimension of the response to the pandemic and equitable socio-economic recovery between countries and regions.

Foreign Minister Ebrard assured that it is of the utmost importance to discuss how to facilitate an effective recovery in the world in 2022 as a whole, not just economic, but also social, and it is not just some countries that have the most relevant advance.
