Four people deprived of liberty died in a jail in Ecuador

The National Service for Comprehensive Attention to Persons Deprived of Liberty (SNAI) reported this Thursday morning, October 14, on the death of four persons deprived of liberty at the Litoral Penitentiary.

The authorities activated the security protocols in the prison for the National Police and the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the deaths registered in ward 8, as it is presumed to be suicide.

The SNAI indicated that “all facilities” are provided to the agents to carry out all the necessary procedures.

These deaths occur after the prison massacre on September 28 that left 119 dead.

At the moment, the police and the military remain outside the prison to control the security of the sector of the road to Daule.

The public force has carried out different operations since the end of last month in that detention center, in order to carry out investigations and regain control in the face of the power dispute between criminal gangs.

During the operations, the uniformed officers seized weapons, explosives, cell phones and other objects. The military has even supported actions abroad, where they maintain a control point that cannot exceed the first filter for entering the prison, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitutional Court.

In the same social network, the Police indicated that, after the death of the four inmates, two suitcases with ammunition and a grinder were located.
