Asunción, Oct 14 (Prensa Latina) The foreign ministers of Paraguay, Euclides Acevedo, and of Argentina, Santiago Cafiero, will hold a meeting today to discuss the reopening of borders between the two countries and other issues, an official source reported.
The meeting is scheduled in the border area of Misiones, in the neighboring country, and will also address issues related to the reduction of the common external tariff and others related to the Common Market of the South, of which both nations are members, together with Brazil and Uruguay.
Other topics of interest in the dialogue will be the operation of the Yacyretá Binational Entity, in relation to pending works of the shared dam, debts and appointments of councilors, the Paraguayan foreign minister said in statements to the press from the seat of Government.
Acevedo commented that the health situation in Paraguay and Argentina is now favorable to be able to specify the opening of the borders.
However, he explained that health policy is directed by the Ministry of Public Health, which together with the Migration Directorate and the departmental authorities of the border must develop a health protocol to guarantee the transfer of goods and people without affecting public health. .
The head of Paraguayan diplomacy said that the meeting responds to an invitation from his Argentine counterpart.
