Caracas, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro ratified on Tuesday his support for talks and national reconciliation as a way to solve the country’s problems, on the occasion of the International Day of Peace.
In a message published on his Twitter account, the Venezuelan President stated that he has always wielded peace as a banner in the face of violence and war when they have been imposed in the world.
‘We are faithful believers in the power of talks, reconciliation and respect. It is the only way to solve our problems,’ the Head of State emphasized.
Last August 13, the Venezuelan Government signed a memorandum of understanding with the so-called Unitary Platform of the opposition, at the beginning of a new cycle of talks in Mexico in favor on political stability and peaceful coexistence.
With the mediation of Norway, the negotiations are aimed at reaching agreements in the areas of political rights, electoral guarantees and a timetable for overseeing elections.
Likewise, the agenda of the talks process included the lifting of unilateral coercive measures implemented against Venezuela, the restoration of the right to assets, the renunciation of violence and compensation to its victims, and guarantees for the implementation, monitoring and verification of what has been agreed upon.
