Dominican Republic recovers over 1.5 million formal jobs

Santo Domingo, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Dominican Republic’s President Luis Abinader announced today in Santo Domingo that in September the country will recover 1, 526,630 formal jobs.

‘We have surpassed the number of jobs previous the Covid-19 pandemic, such outcome was one of the main goals of the Government,’ the head of State expressed during the inauguration of a new industrial building of the Gerdau Metaldom company and its administrative offices.

Abinader reiterated that any project that means job creation, the Dominican Government will be there offering its support because the recovery of jobs lost due to the pandemic and the generation of new jobs is a priority.

During the activity, the president also referred to the electricity issue and its effects lately and said that yesterday the national system exceeded 3,100 megawatts of demand, which is a historic challenge.

Likewise, he explained that such a high demand involves a great economic activity, but at the same time many challenges because as it grows, at that same level the supply must increase.

‘To achieve so, we are planning for, so that supply and demand grow alongside. It is an economy that is going up, it is an economy creating jobs and the government’s public and economic policies are giving the expected results,’ he added.
