La Paz, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia has recorded a financial growth of 9.2 percent in July, according to the Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE, in Spanish language), quoted by Ahora el Pueblo newspaper on Tuesday.
This figure surpassed the one reported in June (8.7 percent), a sign of the recovery mainly driven by mining, construction and transportation, Gabriela Mendoza, Minister of Development Planning, told the press.
Metallic and non-metallic minerals with 54.9 percent, construction 32.8 percent, transportation and storage 27.1 percent, oil and natural gas 12.2 percent, and manufacturing industry 10.4 percent, contributed to this growth, Mendoza said.
The minister added electricity, gas and water with 10.2 percent, commerce nine percent, others 4.9 percent, agricultural and livestock sector 2.2 percent and communications 2.1 percent, except for financial services which fell 0.6 percent and public administration services 0.9 percent.
Since the campaign prior to the October 18, 2020 elections, then presidential candidate Luis Arce expressed that he would work tirelessly to rebuild the Bolivian economy, fight the Covid-19 pandemic and recover democracy. After taking office in November 2020, Arce particularly endorsed a strategy to move forward financially. A return to a fairer and more inclusive community social order stands out among the priorities.
