Panama City, Sep 14 (Prensa Latina) The pressures about the National Assembly for modifications to the Electoral Code, approved in the first discussion in its Government Commission, could change on Tuesday the course in a dialogue with the Electoral Tribunal (TE).

Press media reached this conclusion after the opinions by the President of the National Assembly, Crispiano Adames, were announced. Adames said that he will propose the magistrates of the TE to temporarily suspend discussion in Parliament in order to broaden the participation in the project of changes.

Among the aspects to be analyzed in the meeting, convened after the crisis that generated the withdrawal of the magistrates from the Commission, is the suspension of what was agreed in the first debate and the creation of a negotiation table with the participation of the sectors linked to the project presented to the Assembly.

The legislators’ change of attitude coincided with multiple reactions from social strata linked to the economic and political power, which under the slogan of protecting institutionality and democracy called for this Tuesday a protest march from the Belisario Porras Memorial Park in Panama City to the Legislative Palace.

The public reactions coincided in criticizing methods and proposals by the legislators, who increased the State funding to the candidates at all levels, among other modifications to the reform project.
