The former president of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, will join, full time, as part of the exponents of a program of the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom of Florida International University (FIU). This confirms that the ex-president will settle permanently in the United States.
The Senior Leadership Fellows program will last one semester and will feature the participation of Francisco Santos Calderón, former Vice President of Colombia, and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who was a United States Congresswoman between 1989 and 2019.
“I look forward to this opportunity that the Adam Smith Center has given me to reflect and share some of the experiences and lessons about freedom and democracy that we promoted in Ecuador,” Moreno said.
The University of Florida specified that former public servants will reside on its premises and lead non-credit seminars and study groups on prominent topics based on their experience. They will also participate in talks and other events, be available to meet and mentor students.
It should be remembered that, in August of this year, Lenín Moreno announced his departure from the country for three months and justified it on personal issues, to meet his grandson and his work.
