About 450 thousand Venezuelan citizens residing in Ecuador will be regularized and incorporated into society. This was announced by the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, in an interview with Efe.
According to the president, this proposal “goes beyond an immigration measure,” since the objective, he said, is for migrants to have work and education.
However, the head of state said that help is needed from international organizations. “Ecuador alone cannot serve these 430,000 or 450,000 Venezuelans,” he added.
Likewise, Lasso affirmed that this regularization will not only remain “on paper”, but also, he assured, will be “incorporated into Ecuadorian society.”
“The problems of lack of employment in Ecuador are serious and this Venezuelan migration aggravates the panorama,” said the president.
Lasso said that the arrival of Venezuelan migrants poses a challenge for the country and feeds the argument for a necessary economic reactivation.
