Buenos Aires, Sept 8 (Prensa Latina) Panamanian President Laurentino Cortizo on Wednesday ratified his country’s commitment to the planet and the reduction of global warming, when speaking at the Latin American Summit on this topic.
During his virtual speech at the High-Level Dialogue on Climate Action in the Americas, convened by Argentina, Cortizo called on the continent’s leaders to strengthen cooperation and collaboration in environmental matters to ‘save our only home, planet Earth.’
The president confirmed his participation at COP26, which will be held in Glasgow, the United Kingdom, in early November, when the world will have a new chance to discuss and agree on new measures that will allow us to tackle this huge global warming challenge, he noted.
For her part, Chilean Minister of the Environment Carolina Schmidt called on all countries and especially the most polluting ones to fulfill their commitments in the fight against climate change on the planet.
Schmidt, who is also the president of COP-25, made this appeal when she spoke at the High-Level Dialogue on Climate Action in the Americas, held virtually with the participation of a number of presidents from the region and other world figures.
Schmidt stressed that climate change is humankind’s main challenge, and facing it is imperative at all levels to reduce vulnerabilities and events that are increasingly affecting nations.
