(Prensa Latina) China confirmed that it has signed an agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) that will allow supplying the Covax mechanism with 110 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines developed by the Sinovac and Sinopharm pharmaceutical companies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China explained that the delivery is scheduled for the end of next October, and the international alliance will distribute later the vaccines in countries of Asia and Africa.
In the words of the Ministry, the agreement contemplates the long-term provision of Chinese vaccines to Covax, with the same objective of making them reach developing states.
China developed several vaccines, exported almost one billion doses since last year and applied more than two billion doses to compatriots and foreigners as part of its vaccination program.
Some of the vaccines are part of the Covax mechanism, those from Sinovac and Sinopharm received the green light to be administered in minors between three and 17 years of age and the application of a booster to those who have already received two injections is also under analysis.
