U.S. developing plant to require foreign visitors to be vaccinated

(Prensa Latina) The Biden administration is taking the first steps toward requiring nearly all foreign visitors to the U.S. to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, a White House official said.

White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Jeff Zie said local authorities have not yet made any final decisions on vaccination requirements, adding that an inter-agency working group is currently planning to gradually reopen borders safely.

The news was announced a day after the country hit a record for infections for sixth month in a row.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki reported that the government will maintain current travel restrictions due to the increased Delta variant infection toll reported in the country.

The United States currently bars most non-U.S. citizens who within the last 14 days have been in the United Kingdom, the 26 Schengen nations in Europe without border controls, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil.
