Ecuador expressed its condemnation of the terrorist actions, which it described as cowardly, perpetrated at the Kabul airport, this Thursday, August 26, 2021, and which have left dozens of victims.
At least 11 people, including women and children, were killed in a suicide bomb attack outside Kabul’s Hamid Karzai Airport, near one of its entrances.
This was confirmed by an official from the Taliban, the ultrareligious Islamic group that controls the country. There is talk of injured people who are being evacuated from the place even in wheelbarrows. Shootings are also reported.
“Videos shared on the internet show piles of bodies, so we can expect the death toll to rise,” said the BBC’s Kabul correspondent Secunder Kermani.
The Foreign Ministry also expressed its solidarity with the people of Afghanistan and with the United States, countries affected by the attacks.
Within the humanitarian aid actions, Ecuador will host Afghan families, in an agreement with the United States.
