After the Ministry of Health confirmed 45 new cases with the Delta variant, of which five are in the Guayas province, the director of the Health Bureau of the Guayaquil COE, Carlos Farhat, confirmed that, of these new infections, two are in the Main Port.
Farhat reported that of the two patients who are carriers of the Delta variant, one is already vaccinated against Covid-19 with the two doses of the drug and is stable.
“Of the two cases that have been confirmed in Guayaquil, there is one that has both vaccines, but is very stable. It is not serious, so the vaccine is protecting it” he stressed.
The doctor explained that, to counteract the spread of the disease, epidemiological surveillance has been increased in eight points of Guayaquil, which have a high number of coronavirus cases.
In addition, he called on citizens to be vaccinated against the virus, to prevent the spread of the different variants, including the Delta, which are already circulating in the city. He highlighted that in the coming weeks the impact of the Delta variant in the Main Port will be known.
