Garbage collection service continues with its work in Quito

Emaseo announces that garbage collection hours are maintained in Quito, despite a state of exception.

 The Quito Metropolitan Public Toilet Company (Emaseo) announced that the schedules and routes for solid waste collection are maintained. This, despite the mobility restrictions and the curfew, which is in effect from 21:00 on Tuesday March 17, 2020 in the country, after the decree of the state of emergency due to the health emergency against the covid-19 .

“The services we are providing continuously are containerized collection, at the foot of the path and sweeping, we are also intensifying the hydro-washing of parks, squares and wet points,” the entity added in a statement.

Emaseo also said that it will continue to wash and disinfect units and containers, “to maintain asepsis throughout the city.”

Yolanda Gaete, General Director of EMASEO, indicated that the hours have changed, however the frequency is met with normality, she stated that the priority is to keep the city of Quito clean, especially in this emergency, she said that some delays have been caused by the increase in garbage, which is almost 30% more, is why activity has slowed down.

She called on the population to decrease the production of garbage, save bulky waste, recycle and take out the garbage when the collector comes to avoid leaving the waste on the streets. (C.D.A.)
