Lopez Obrador expressed sympathies for Lula in Brazilian election

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Friday revealed his sympathy for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, but clarified that he does not wish to and cannot give an opinion on the upcoming election in Brazil.

To a question on the matter at his morning press conference at the National Palace, the president apologized for not being able to give an opinion on that, because the truth is that President Jair Bolsonaro has been respectful of us, he has not questioned Mexico nor have we questioned his government.

However, he clarified, our sympathy in Brazil for Lula is public and notorious , and I cannot say more.

I can say that Brazil is an extraordinary country with a good, hard-working, cheerful people, full of values, creative, exceptional in music, in sports.

It is a brother country, the second most populated country on the American continent, the one with the largest territorial extension and it has a lot of economic potential, natural resources, water, jungle, oil, precious metals and, above all, its people.

He added that it is an exceptional country, very democratic. They have endured dictatorships and have gotten ahead. They have fought for a long time and I only wish that the Brazilian people freely decides what is best for their country, without pressures or threats.
